Kids Need Their Moms to Keep a Family Blog

There was some outside motivation for this blog revamp. I recently read a book by Angela Thomas titled "52 Things Kids Need from a Mom". I picked up this little book the last time I was at Lifeway. It was in the middle of the day on a Saturday and Angela was there for a book signing. I have loved Angela for a long time!! Ever since I got my hands on her book "Do You Think I'm Beautiful?", I have started to grow in a new way with God. I will never be able to fully express of say thank you to her this side of heaven. Needless to say when I saw her there, I grabbed the nearest book with her name on it and went to get in line. :) She was lovely and even more lovely was this neat little book I had purchased almost on accident. This little gem is 52 short chapters on things that kids need us to do or be in their life. Now I am not one to promote the never ending servitude of mothers. I believe that God is sovereign and I am exactly who my kids need as a mom to be who they are supposed to be in their life. There will be days when videos and cereal for dinner is all that I am capable of. However, I am starting to see a season where there might, there just might be grace for a little more than that. This book inspired me to that point. In fact, one of the chapters is entitled - "Kids Need Their Moms to Keep a Family Blog." Angela's point was blogs are a great way for her to write and memorialize her heart to her family. It struck a chord, along with the rest of the book. Since there are 52 chapters, I have decided I am going to try to implement or try one of these things once a week for a year and I am going to blog about it here. So on November 19, 2011 I am starting with week 1 - Kids need their moms to keep a family blog.
